.Net Framework History

.Net Framework is a popular programming environment developed by Microsoft. Its development was started at end of the 1990s by Microsoft. Initially, it was called (NGWS) Next Generation Windows Services.

After the release of .Net 1.0 there are nine upgrades released by Microsoft till now.

Seven out of nine upgrades were released with the Microsoft Visual Studio which is an Integrated development kit (IDE). Rest of two upgrades (.Net 2.0 and .Net 4.0) were released to upgrade the CLR(Common Language Runtime).

The first beta version of .Net was released at the end of 2001 and it was called .Net 1.0.
